Southern Monmouth Swim Association

Silton Swim Team is a member of the S.M.S.A competing against The Atlantic Club, Avon-by-the-Sea, Deal Casino, Manasquan River Yacht Club, Neptune Aquatics Center, Spring Lake Recreation, and Spring Lake Bath and Tennis.

Our league is some what of a competitive league but a league that is geared towards teaching children the necessary techniques for becoming a competitive swimmer.  Our practices will help build endurance and proper technique within each swimmer but our emphasis is on having fun, portraying good sportsmanship, and enjoying the sport.   

Eligibility Requirements:

Swimmers, ages 7-14 must be able to complete a 50 yard freestyle independently and have knowledge of either backstroke and/or breaststroke.

6 year olds swimmers must have a trial practice before enrolling and eligibility will be determined by a coach.

Practice Schedule:

The following practice days and times are designated for each age group:

6 year old swimmers will practice on Mondays and Thursdays from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM (Space is Limited for this age group) 

Ages 7 to 10 will practice on Mondays & Thursdays (some 9/10 year old swimmers may be asked to practice with the older age groups) from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM

Ages 11 to 14 will practice on Tuesdays & Wednesdays  from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM.

Swim Meets

There will be 6 swim meets scheduled during our summer season.  Meets usually take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. You are responsible for driving your child to and from the meets.  Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.  

During each meet, swimmers will compete against children in the following age groups:

6 year olds: Compete in a 25 yard Freestyle and Backstroke event only (races can be co-ed or by gender)

7&8 year olds: All individual events are 25 yard races.  Swimmers will compete in any of the following events: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly or the 100 yard Freestyle or Medley Relays.

9/10 year olds:  Swimmers now compete in a 50 yard freestyle race.  All other individual events (Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly) will be 25 yard races or 100 Freestyle or Medley Relays. Swimmers are eligible to compete in the 100 yard Individual Medley event.

11/12 & 13/14 year olds:  All individual events (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly) are 50 yard races.  Swimmers are eligible to compete in the 100 Individual Medley event. All relays are 200 yard Freestyle or Medley Relay events. 

*Ages 7-14: All races are by single gender, any co-ed events will be considered "unofficial" for scoring purposes.

Parent Volunteers

During each swim meet, we ask for 7 parent volunteers to be timers or place judges.  We ask that you volunteer for at least one swim meet each season.  We cannot begin the meets unless all lanes have a timer and each team has a place judge.  We thank you for your help and cooperation.
